Equine Explorers Sample Schedule

 10 week Semester

Semester activities may vary due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, sessions are 1 hour in length & held on weekday afternoons & Saturdays.  Students must have their own ASTM/SEI Certified Equestrian Helmet and riding boots with a 1" heel.

Day 1- Welcome!  Let's Explore Farm Safety!!  Safety talks, practice safety skills, meet & ?treat? the horses, pony grooming basics; grooming supplies & begin grooming. 

 Day 2- Let's Explore Grooming!  Review safety skills, grooming supplies & groom our ponies; complete with braids, & hoof paint.  Hop on one of the ponies and enjoy a bareback ride!

 Day 3- Let's Explore Saddles & Bridles!  Learn the parts of a saddle & bridle and how to safely put them on our pony.  Practice mounting & dismounting.

 Day 4- Let's put it all together and Explore Riding!!  Safety review, grooming, saddling, and riding. Controlling the pony's direction and speed all by ourselves.

 Day 5- Let's Explore Horse Shoes!  Horse shoe shapes & sizes, horse shoe painting, and pony grooming.  Time for another bareback ride.

 Day 6- Let's Explore Riding!!  Safety review, grooming, saddling, and riding day. Practice turning, and controlling speed is hard work.

 Day 7- Let's Explore a Pony Spa Day!!  We're going to treat our ponies to an herbal bath, colored hoof paint, hair ribbons, and perfume!!  They'll look marvelous!

 Day 8- Let's Explore Riding!!  Another great day in the saddle.  Maybe we'll ride a new pony today!

 Day 9- Let's Explore Finger Painting Ponies!!  We'll paint stencil shapes on our pony, stars, hearts, and add some color to her mane & tail!!  

 Day 10- Let's Explore Riding!!  Our last day in the saddle putting all our new skills to the test!
